The Magical Beauty of the First Dance

For most Asian couple, especially Vietnamese couples, first dance is a completely new term. However, to us, it is one of the most important highlights that should not be left out from one’s wedding photo album. And let’s hear me out!

Despite the fact that the idea of dancing in front of many people is quite, if not extremely, daunting for most of us, doing it in your own wedding can bring out many kind of manifested emotions. Being born and raised in a Vietnamese middle class family, I wasn’t introduced to any kind of dance or any kind of event that dancing is a part of it.

Growing up watching too many English novel adaptation, I couldn’t help but feeling jealous of the way British/ Westerner socialite in their times, not only over a cup of tea in the middle of an English garden but more beautifully, via the  dancing. The image of room where constant movements coordinates with the nonstop-able footsteps and undeniable joyous laughs never fail to put a smile on my face. Imagine your wedding is that room. Pretty amazing, don’t you think?

Ok, while you keep your imagination going wild, with 3.5 years into the biz and just a little over 100 project in our portfolio, let me deliberately walk you through the reasons why first dance is a MUST even when it’s a FUSS.

First of all, let’s admit this, most of us scare of dancing. The idea of making a complete fool of ourselves in front of other people is not exactly a dream situation anyone would sign up for. Therefore, dancing at your own wedding would very much be the only time you would consider doing it. And from my experiences, even when you forget the steps, trampling on your partner’s feet, it’s still a lot more fun than doing nothing.

Secondly, despite the fact that it looks so complicated on all the Youtube videos, first dance can be both easy and romantic. The key here is to find a good dance choreographer who understands your ability and encourage you to follow your natural movement.

Thirdly, it doesn’t take much time practicing, if you’re thinking about a “busy schedule” lame excuse. On average, each couple would need about 3-5 practice sessions to perfect their dance. Of course if what you imagine is a very complicated dance with different kind of steps, it’ll take a lot more efforts than 5 sessions. So what’s best is to choose a dance instructor and your preferable dance style and then let her/him guide you the time you need to make it perfect.  My point is, no matter how hard it is, if it’s important to you, you’ll find time for it.

And while first dance is more about having fun, a pretty surrounding, like this millions stars inspired background from An & Duc Anh wedding wouldn’t hurt. Indeed, it helps creating a dreamy vibe to the whole scene and the photos look just above imagination.

Finally, yet most importantly, not only you but your guest will enjoy the first dance more than many other speeches. It would mark the party time and pull everyone out of their table and into the dance floor, ready to dance the night away. And of all other important moments, when the night has fallen, the most crucial thing is to make sure everyone having a good time, isn’t it?  And what can be better than drinking, dancing and having a merry night?

So grab your shoes and let’s dance, shall we?
